Good ruby-red color. Redcurrant, iron, coffee and violet on the refined nose. Smooth, suave and fairly dense, displaying good depth of strawberry and cocoa flavors. Finishes very fresh and lively, with ripe tannins and noteworthy persistence. A very good showing for Pensees, although 2011's characteristics make this a less seductive quaff than usual. It seems to have firmed up since the Primeurs.

The 2011 Les Pensees de Lafleur is a blend of 54% Merlot and 46% Cabernet Franc. Juicy raspberry and herbal notes are accompanied by a medium-bodied mouthfeel, excellent ripeness and texture, and a savory, forward component. This 2011 should drink well for 10-15 years.
Anticipated maturity: 2012-2027
Deep dark black cherry. Fine, just ripe cherry fruit and just a little minty. Silky fine tannins. delicate, somehow both lacy and a little austere = elegant. Spicy aftertaste from the Cabernet, dark and mineral on the finish. Really mineral. The tannins are dry but the whole wine is so fluid. (JH)
