Tasting Notes
Vinous 94
(12% alcohol): Medium-deep yellow. Very perfumed nose of tangerine, apricot, yellow flowers and anise. Rich, dense and suave, with mouthwatering acidity lifting the ripe white stone and citrus fruit flavors complicated by thyme and almond paste. Multilayered and mouthcoating, this finishes rich, smooth and extremely long, with an enticing balsamic note. Harvested on September 12, in a year that was fairly rainy in this part of Abruzzo. This wine proves my theory that trebbiano abruzzese does much better in rainy than hot years. Valentini told me that due to the cooler weather in the latter half of the growing season, the ripening process was slowed down and stretched out, bringing forth greater complexity in the grapes and wines.
