Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 95
Unquestionably one of the most massive Barberas ever made, the blockbuster 1997 Ai Suma (800 cases) reveals off the chart density as well as a terrific bouquet of smoke, blackberries, cherry liqueur, licorice, and violets. With exquisite richness and amazing harmony for such a gargantuan wine, this full-bodied giant should drink well for 10-15 years. However, its low acidity and almost over the top richness give it immediate appeal. It is a very sexy effort! This is a very impressive Barbera! Vinous 91+
Aged in all new barriques. Saturated bright ruby. Cassis, bitter chocolate, violet, lead pencil and exotic spices on the nose. Very rich, dense and suave; thick dark berry and dark chocolate flavors saturate the palate. Finishes very young, with dusty (oak?) tannins and excellent length.
