Some vegetal, green-bean, smoked-meat characteristics dominate the 1981’s aromatics. The wine is medium-bodied and more compact than usual, with a deep, dark garnet color. Although fully mature and in need of consumption, it was a remarkable success in what was an extremely difficult vintage in Cote Rotie. Mature now. Last tasted 12/94.
