Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 88
Our first bottle of the 1976 Sassicaia had some faint cork taint that was evident in the mouth more so than the bouquet. Our second bottle opened to a lingering sense of sweetness that appealed to all the senses. This is a smooth and beautifully aged wine that produces fine lines and a pleasing sense of simplicity. The complexity that the wine offers does comes from its cellar evolution. Dried fruit is followed by smoke, tar and powdered licorice. Having said that, this edition does offer integrity and lingering finesse.
