Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 90
The 1974 Barolo Monprivato is one of the smaller-scaled wines in this tasting. Sweet herbs, tobacco, licorice and flowers emerge from this mid-weight, fully resolved Barolo. Although mature, the wine retains a surprising level of freshness, a hallmark of the poor soils of the Monprivato vineyard. Ideally, the 1974 is best enjoyed over the near-term, although well-stored bottles might keep for a few more years. Anticipated maturity: 2009.
