Sassicaia

Since its first vintage in 1968, Sassicaia has set the benchmark for Tuscan wine becoming in 1994 the only wine in Italy to get its own DOC. The last decade has seen an exceptional run of form for this lauded marque with critical reaction and consumer interest now consistently amongst the most exciting in Italy.

The Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc Sassicaia was joined in 2000 by Second Wine Guidalberto, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot intended to provide a softer, more immediate expression. Two years later Tuscany’s indigenous Sangiovese was introduced in a blend with Cabernet Sauvignon to create Le Difese – named for the teeth of the wild boar depicted in gold on the label.
