Livio Sassetti (Pertimali)
The Livio Sassetti Pertimali vineyards are set on the stunning hillside of Montosoli, north of Montalcino, where the family have been making wine for over three generations. The good location combined with the passion, dedication to the land, understanding of the changing terroir, as well as it's fruits has resulted in producing extremely complex yet gloriously elegant wines time and time again with the 2016 vintage proving exactly that receiving a score of 100 from James Suckling.
Blackberries, black walnuts and black cherries, as well as loads of chewy tannins. Some smoked wood, wood tannins and even black truffles. It’s full-bodied and powerful with loads going on. It just keeps growing on the palate. So much wet earth and black olive at the finish with porcini mushrooms, too. Needs time to soften. Crazy finish. Try after 2025.
