Aldo Vacca decided not to produce the nine crus in 2018 so the straight Barbaresco has all the Cru juice and like the 2010 and 2012, it is an excellent wine of great value.

On the edge of the Chianti Classico appellation you have the Felsina estate best known for its supple, aromatic Super Tuscan wine Fontallaro, and the spicy, intense Rancia Chianti Classico Riserva both of which have been scored in the high 90’s for the 2018 vintage by Antonio Galloni.

Ca d’Morissio, named in honor of Mauro’s Grandfather Maurizio, was created from replanted vines in the Monprivato vineyard in the 1980s using the much revered Michet clone of Nebbiolo and produces around 4000 bottles per year. The wine is made only in the best vintages since 1993 and the latest release, the 2013, is a magical wine. Intensely aromatic, pure and classically structured, the wine will need a decade or so of cellaring and is destined to become a classic.
